98 PCM repair
98 PCM repair Just bought a used 98 ls1 with bolt ons for cheap and was tuning it using HP tuners when the pcm bricked while writing a tune. The DTC responsible is P0601. I have contacted Moates.net, madz28, PCMCalibrators and no one seems to want to repair these pcms anymore. I dont want to get involved with swapping pcms and re-pinning for the 99+. Does anyone know of anyone offering repair services for these 98 pcms?
Buy a used one off Ebay, that's your best option.
The 98 PCM has 2 memory chips one being an eeprom. If it gets corrupted by a bad flash it will be toasted. It's repairable but you need a valid binary from a good one with exact same hardware.
The files you get from reading the tune are not what you need, you have to take apart a good PCM to dump the files. These files only work with the same hardware type, there are a few so you need to take apart every variation of this PCM (and risk destroying it) to have the files need to do repair work.
That's why nobody wants to repair them.
