Default Best way in Tunning???

Hey I'm going to do a head cam swap within the next week or two and I was wondering which way would be the best for max horsepower and driveability.

A) Dyno tuned at a performance shop by a Tech from Superchips. Just reflashing my PCM not buying their programmer.

B) Buy HP Tuner and learn to do it myself. I have access to a Tech 2 so using HP Tuner as a scan tool I don't really care about.

Which way would be the best A or B? Both are about the same price.

Definately more flexibility with the HP Tuner program.

I'm not exactly sure who will be doing the tuning. I talked to Robbie from Corvette Masters and he just said someone from superchips will do it.

This might be a stupid question but how hard is it to custom tune a head cam Ls1 with HP Tuner?

Don't quote me but I think Superchips might lock your PCM so I'd opt for tuning it yourself with HP Tuners or better yet, get it tuned with a shop that uses HP Tuners or LS1 Edit. Your PCM won't be locked and you can make changes yourself in the future if you buy either product.

Doesn't a Tech 2 let you do anything you want? Anyways, HPTuners is awesome. Very easy to use. Figuring out what to change to get your car to do what you want it to do is another story though.

Ya I wish the Tech 2 did everything, but it doesn't. You can not tune with a Tech 2 but pretty much everything else it does like looking at engine data, checking codes and freeze frames, programming your key fobs and reflashing your PCM with latest GM updates through TIS 2000.

Get HP Tuner or Edit and let the people here teach you how to tune. By far the best way. Even the best tuners in the country cannot nail a tune every time on a car they are not driving/dyno tuning.

And you can't dyno tune idle and part throttle....and I am sure that is the hardest part.
