HP Tuners questions?
I know I will need to tune out
-VATS.
-rear o2 sensors
-torque management
-fan control
I also need to perform a segment swap. The 4l80e is actually from a 2008 express van and the motor and pcm is from a 2004 Chevy truck. I believe after 2007 the transmissions were controlled by a tcm not the pcm. Can I still control the newer transmission with the 2004 PCM?
Can I perform all these things and a segment swap with hp tuners standard?
Do I use up any additional credits to do a segment swap.
Most of us are running junkyard PCMs in our swaps so what happens if my PCM takes a dump. Do i need to use 2 additional credits to license another junkyard PCM?
I assume HP tuners won't have any problem tuning the PCM in a swap vehicle?
Sorry for all the question hopefully I can better inform myself before purchasing the software.
I think you might get more help on the HP tuners forum. I know segment swaps can be done without extra credits if you get the segment from a registered tune. I'm confused about the actual harness. I think the plugs that went to your TCM will need to go somewhere but I have no idea how to perform that swap. Good luck man!
Would hp tuners have a problem doing any of the other stuff mentioned? I am going to check out that forum. Thanks appreciate the response.
Any idea where the best place to buy hp tuners would be? I am in Canada and the $500 package now turns into almost 800 dollars because of the exchange rate. Sucks. Unless I find a used version
cobble, licensing can be tricky (what does the PCM
think it is, etc.). It would be good to talk to someone
about licensing and support (try support@hptuners.com)
before you invest in tools. Let alone start trying to use
segment-swapped files you find on the Internet, which
may look like some other vehicle (there goes licensing
again).

You can do a segment swap and control the 4l80 with your 2004 PCM if there is a matching OS with a 4l80 tune.
Can I perform all these things and a segment swap with hp tuners standard?
The standard can do everything everything the Pro can minus plug in external inputs (like wideband) and data log without a laptop. You will have the access to the same tables with the standard or pro.

A normal segment swap does not use additional credits.

Yes if your pcm were to fail you would have to use 2 additional credits on the new pcm. However is it very rare to have a pcm fail.

Nope, HP Tuners doesnt care if the vehicle is a swap or not, it just see's a pcm. Its going to be up to you to change the correct tables for the swap to run correctly.
