Any way to get ls2 ecu to work on ls1?

Default Any way to get ls2 ecu to work on ls1?

I have an ls1/t56 swapped fd rx7 and want to know if an ls2 ecu can work with an ls1. I have an AIM MXL digital dash and Aim informed me it will not communicate and properly with the ls1 ecu. My buddy has an ls2 swapped 240 with the same dash and it works on his stock ecu just fine.

The LS2 ECU will be expecting a 58x reluctor signal. The LS1 motor will only be putting out 24x. You could get a converter from a few vendors but it would just be easier to run an LS1 ECU which is already expecting a 24x signal. I would recommend a search on 24x vs 58x reluctors but that will primarily be your issue.

The swap is already functional but the gauges are not. Ideally I'd like to keep my current stock ecu and get the gauges to work somehow.

This guy had the same problem and based on what he was told by AIM, there is no way to fix it. Connecting AIM MXL Dash to stock LS1 Delco ecu NEED HELP!!

A 2005/2006 GTO ecm can run a LS1as long as you verify the calibration is for a 24X crank shaft reluctor and you use the correct cam reluctor. You will need to install a LS2 timing cover and cam gear because it changes to the front mount sensor due to differences in how the PCM interprets data off the sensor. It will require converting to drive by wire. So you need pedal and throttle body and all of the correct programming and a completely different wiring harness MAF etc to work correctly.

The pcm can run a damm lawnmower you just have to make sure the correct sensors are installed on the engine and it has the correct programming for your platform.

2006-2005 gtos used a 24X crank

Call speartech they can give you all the details and prices the above will just get you going in the right direction.

AIM gauges are looking for CAN data. This started on 24x LS2 GTO's. However, this is now a DBW setup. So you would have to make a pretty severe harness change and rip your harness out and install a new one with E40 computer. I would suggest ditching gauges and go with something analog. As you are now aware the LS1 PCM's are serial data and not CAN data.
