Default new laptop needed for HP Tuners

Can someone tell me the system requirements for HP Tuners and recommend a nice laptop? We don't need anything fancy or expensive (but I would like to buy new) because that is the only time we will use it. My wife and I both have smart phones as well as tablets when we need to pay bills, email, surf the web, etc. but the tablets don't have a drive to load HP Tuners. We have 2 tunes from our tuner (NA and nitrous) and also log runs. We've previously used a computer she had from work but she changed jobs so we'll need to buy one now. I'm ok changing the tunes, logging runs, etc. but don't know much about purchasing a computer.

Thanks.

Scott

just about any off the shelf computer will have enouph power to run hp tuners. long battery life is preffered. but i recommend never loading tunes with just battery power. if something happens your ecm becomes a paperweight

I agree with almost any laptop will work on tuning software, friend uses a $275 acer.
Are you talking about battery on laptop or just vehicle battery for flashing? Alot of tuning software will tell you not to use inverters or be plugged into to power when flashing.

I've been picking up Dell Precision M90 laptops for work
and paying under $200 for them. Main draw being the
1920x1200 17" screen, which is handier than you may
think with all the subwindows to display. Still on Win7
(I pick up units with Win7 Pro or Win7 Ultimate preloaded
and 3-4GB RAM, 250-500GB HD, 2GHz 2-core at this price).

If you buy a used laptop, punch the model number into Amazon with the word "battery" and order a new battery which is typically under $30. I currently use a decent Win7 laptop with a new oversized battery and and retrofitted with an SSD (Solid State Drive). That laptop has about 7 hours of working time.

Get a chromebook brand new for $150. More than enough power to run HPT and is very lightweight with tons of battery life. You don't need anymore power than that.

Minimum requirements for my scantool (not HP Tuners):
Processor: 2.0Ghz+
Number of Processors: 2
Ram: 2Gb+
OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8

My laptop doesn't meet the m.requirements (ram and processor is just under). It still works and am very happy with it, but the only problem is that the gauges are a bit laggy. So instead of say your RPM's going 876 877 878 879 880 881... it goes 876...(straight to)1024. No big deal (in my case).

Cheap Dell laptop from Walmart.

15" is easier to handle inside car.

I like Win7.

I think we have pretty much established that most XP or later laptop, and any Windows laptop you can buy now, will run HPT.
Since I don't think any new info will reveal itself, I am closing this thread.
