I have a 01 silverado 5.3 that has a p0300 code that pops up only when on the highway at a steady rpm above 1700ish for more than a few minutes.
It will not happen around town or if I am not going fast enough for long enough.
I hooked up my scan tool to it and looked at the misfire history. It shows that cylinders 1,5,6,and 8 have a high misfire count. All the others are zero.
I changed the plugs and wires a while ago and that didn't do anything and I didn't really expect it to.
What I'm thinking now is it's the injectors. I've had this code for a while and I can't feel anything or hear anything when it happens.
My theory to test it is to swap the injectors to a differnt cylinder and see if the misfire follows the injector or if it stays on the cylinder. Does this sound like a logical plan? Thanks.
