Default E40 Tune from 5.3 Monte Carlo to 6.0 Corvette/GTO

Quick question so that I don't lock up my E40 ECM..... I have an E40 out of a 5.3 Monte Carlo that I am going to use to control an LQ4 in my '66 Nova with T56 trans.

The basics for the build are LQ4 short block, LS3 heads and intake, 2005/6 Corvette DBW pedal, silver 90mm 6 pin DBW throttle, side mounted knock sensors, 24x, '06 MAF, O2, and MAP. I upgraded the cam to an XER273-14.

To keep from risking any damage before I try to fire the setup, I wanted to confirm if the 5.3 E40 would support the DBW setup or do I need to use my HPT to upgrade the tune to a Corvette/GTO? I know that I will have to calibrate the fuel trims, ideal, timing, etc...

If I do need to upgrade the base load from Malibu to Corvette/GTO, can this be done without us of the GM Tech2 system or am I stuck with sending it off?

Very Excited to get it fired for the first time!

Many Thanks!

Tim

If it was mine I'd use a P59 PCM, easier and simpler wiring
Better tunability for large injectors and several advantages

I am committed to the E40 set up.... Has anyone else tried updating a different vehicle PCM to another for a retro mod or even to replace their bad PCM / ECM???

E40 ecu are funny. Changing Operating systems via hp tuners can be disasterous. Shoot me a pm for details. I can help you make your system function correctly with your hardware.

I have a Platte City guy bringing his 68 gto with 06 gto ls2 and ender carriage coming over this fri to have me fix his wiring and tune. You know him?
