Default Never tuned before

Ok guys...what's good? So me and my buddy have some parts and we're building a twin turbo kit for the SS. My buddy has done some kits before and we're duplicating the aps kit with Mitsubishi 16g turbos with big 20g compressors. The engine itself will remain unchanged. Ls1 block wit 243 heads, ls7 cam, maybe upgrade to fast 102 from fast 92...or may give the atomic airforce a go...my question is....I've never tuned anything before a day in my life....so some help would be amazing. I obviously plan on running 60lbs injectors...how do I do that? What else do I need? I imagine wideband? How does one tune?

First thing is you need tuning software, like hptuners/EFI live..

There are more but these are the most common

Hptuners has a forum of its own and pretty much will have all the info you need about getting started and what to buy.

"The tuning school" has a take home course that teaches you step by step.

They have a beginner course and advanced course.

But it is not an easy task to tune a twin turbo engine even for some intermediate tuners, not to discourage you. That's just the way it is.

Hopefully this will get you started

How would it be hard? Not doubting you I'm sure it will be especially since the only thing I tuned was a ecotrons kit on my minibIke lol. At the end of the day it's still making boost. I plan on being pretty modest with it. 7psi

I think what Burken's trying to convey is...there's a HUGE learning curve to figure out for your basic tuning needs, before you even start thinking about adding boost into the equation...

It's not hard if you know how to do it.

I didn't say it was impossible, it's just dependent on the person.

There is a learning curve, it sounds like you are somewhat familiar with tuning.

There are a lot of parameters that need adjusting, then you need to test the changes you made by driving and data logging. Repeat, repeat, repeat.. Until everything is stable.

I'm all for doing things myself, sounds like you are too.

I'm not trying to discourage you at all, just keep researching and come to your own conclusion.

Good luck

Sounds like the first thing I need to do is get on hptuners forum and get better acclimated with the software. As for the twin turbo build that probably won't start until November as I current DD the car in the summer.

Default Never tuned before

Download both HPTuners and EFILive software, and download the 2000-2002 F-car and Y-car stock tune files (for each software), and take a look.

You will have to do some reading on each forum to find out about some of the dependecies/rules that the PCM implements/executes.

Yea they have a website, search for them.

Idk if they are a vendor here, so I don't want to give direct links.

Should be easy to find.
