Default can I remove the charging sensor from an E67 PCM?

There is a sensor that the negative battery cable runs through. Does this regulate the alternator output? Can I omit this from the ecm? Thanks in advance for any help!

You can but the ECM will not be able to control the alternator charge and it will default to 13.8V at all times. Normally it doesn't cause any issues but you may need better charging regulation.

The GMPP computers do not have it at all and mine works fine. If you have a newer car with a lot of electronics, I would be careful, but if it is an older car, I would remove it without batting an eye.

I'm thinkin I'll keep it just to avoid any issues later. Problem is, battery is in the trunk. Could I use that sensor on a motor to frame ground cable? The negative cable runs from the battery to a shut-off switch to the frame which is tied together with welded sub frame connectors. As long as I have good solid connections that sensor should see current or should I run wires back to the trunk and mount the sensor on the battery cable? thanks for your help.

The sensor needs to see all the current that is passing thru the battery, so it needs to be on the main wire before it connects to the frame or engine block.
You can relocate the sensor and install it next to battery, I have done it and works good. You only need to lengthen the harness using quality wore and good solder.
