5.3 to 5.7 i was wondering if a 5.3 engine swap into a 2002 z28 would need a pcm from a current 53 or would a good tuner be able to work with my current 5.7 pcm, ? im pretty sure it does but ive been getting mixed answers..

It depends on what year 5.3. The switch from ls1 to ls2 involved a change in the cam signal. I don't know when things changed for the other motors, but if the 5.3 has DOD, then it will definitely have at the very least a different cam position signal. If you are willing to do some minor hardware and wiring modifications, damn near any LS based engine can be used with your computer. You didn't mention if you are trying to use a cable or DBW TB, but that is another can of worms. Cable would obviously be easier to tune, but DBW might not be a dealbreaker. Another thing you didn't mention is the transmission. A stick won't matter, but I don't think the 2002 pcm can be reprogrammed to control anything other than a 4l60 or 4l80, and the 4l80 would need a segment swap.
