Default DTC Code P0121 Low Voltage TPS

When this happens, does the sensor need to be replaced? I have noticed when it does come on the car tends to shift funny at WOT. If I clear the code then it will be fine.

I also recently installed a NOS WOT/RPM window switch and it has a wire to splice into my TPS. So I tapped into the 24 dark blue wire on the red side PCM and when I did that, it will only read around 2.8 Volts max when I stomp on the pedal.

I removed the sensor and it kinda looks fairly new, not dirty or anything. Could it be in the tune? A new sensor to be safe? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a performance camshaft? If so, there are a couple tables for the P0121 in the tune that need to be changed for the lower vacuum of a performnace cam.

2.8V? Was it doing that before you spliced into the TPS wire? That wire is extremely sensitive to voltage irregularities.

Exactly what I was thinking.
A high impedance circuit (like a volt meter) can read the TPS value, but anything that drains more than a few hundred MICRO-amps of current from it will reduce the voltage.
Disconnect the splice and check the voltage - if it still doesn't range from about 0.5V to 5V, then you likely have a sensor problem.
