new shortblock cam position error hello.
on my 09 G8 GT.
i have a newly built bottom end ..not stock. the motor is back together and running what appears to be really good. idles smooth revs nicely. starts right up. but i am getting a p0016 code. which is cam position error.
now.. i put this together. correctly. not my first time. and i dont have a problem opening the front to double check the timing gear marks. but i swear i put this together correctly.
is there a CAM position reset procedure? would driving it relearn the cam position?
so if it was a tooth off would the car start up nicely and run... and not throw any other CELs?
any input would be greatly appreciated.

What cam gear did you use? Stock or aftermarket?
Conditions for Setting the P0016 DTC
The ECM detects that the CMP sensor pulses occur more than 11 crank degrees before, or 11 crank degrees after, nominal position for 24 out of 30 engine cycles.

do you have another crank sensor to try in it? I got that code intermittently with a bad sensor (must have damaged it when I pulled the motor)
new sensor and a case learn and it went away
