Hi folks. I just got the HPtuner software on Monday. Tried setting it up on my laptop that night but I had problems with the drivers getting loaded. I think I sorted it out. Will record some runs tomorrow. I cant wait to get this fixed. The frikin car just pings all the time. Sucks big time.

Ok, so i got this software configured. It looks like I have the drivers loaded. I am going to write the file that is on my car now to this computer.. and then post it up here.
I started looking at the HPtuner software... Looks like I bit off more than I can chew with this. So many options, so confusing.. I will be back in the morning with my car's file.

David, hang in there brother. I am sure you will get a handle on that software. There is a learning curve with anything, it takes time. Maybe a little longer at our age…lol

Thanks AL. Have you ever seen a pic of the dashboard for the space shuttle? There must be 1000 *****, 10000 gauges, 1000 switches. Thats what this software looks like.. sort of. I am sure that I can learn what to do with time. It is just that I just want it NOW. I have been driving my car for about 6 months now with that frikin ping going on. The few times when it would not ping it was fast as heck. However, now with the pinging I have to drive like a grandma.

This is the reason why I miss locking out advance on the HEI , dialing in 12-14 degrees of timing using a vacuum gauge at the throttle plate of the carb. Jet the Holley DP square at 78 with one turn out on idle screws and it was pretty much dead on.

I was finally able to read my cars file. I have a day job as a Database administrator so I dont have a lot of free time during the week. I drive to work 26 miles and then home.. so that is 2 hours in the SS living with this Friking ping. So I had trouble at first loading the HPTuners drivers as Windows 10 was crapping out. I finally sorted that out and then HPTUN would not read my file due to some more obscure settings.. Now it is all sorted out. The file is up here. I anxiously wait your comments. Thank you very much for your help and support!!!

Hi Jay, mods,, slp loudmouth 1 cat backs. MSD coils. Thats it. Nothing else. Oh, I had did the LS6 valley cover swap.. I know this affected vacuum because I can see a diff in the oil pressure gauge but the LS1 was pinging before that.
I was looking at SD tunes?? This way I can get rid of MAF, O2s and IAT sensors.

This tune is a MESS! Stock MAF table and VE table. Stock PE table. The only thing changed in YOUR tune is
- 2 degrees of timing added to the ENTIRE Hi Octane spark table
- WOT shift enable/disable RPM
- Some torque management stuff
- Shift pressure
- Fan turn on/off temps
How much did you pay to get your car tuned? I wouldnt even consider an aftermarket ECM.
Seeingh stuff like this makes me HAPPY I bought HP Tuners. You will be glad also, once you learn the ins and outs of HPT. Did you get the Pro version? I hope you did.

I wouldnt do SD unless you cam it or go with forced induction. If youre concerned about the MAF being a restriction, get an aftermarket MAF.

It was tuned by the other owner... and I did it again about 2 months ago. I paid 300 bucks. Its a mess I know by the way the car drives. I did not buy the Pro Version. I think you mean the version that lets you use the wide band 02 in the exhaust? I did not purchase that. So where do I start? It is even idles like crap now too. What is the quickest way to get this fixed. I am tired of throwing money at it. At this point I have about 14k invested in this car. 10 to buy it.. another 4 in service, maint, now tune software. Can I just get a tune that I know will not blow up my engine.. flash my cars ECU with it and then go from there?

So the only changes... 2 degrees of timing, fan settings, and abuse mode changes. Also, the line pressure changes on the trans aren't really needed (or recommended).
That's certainly not worth $300.
And the VE and MAF are stock.
It shouldn't be driving like ****. Barely anything changed. You have some other issues.
