Default Canister purge solenoid logic....question

I'm new to this whole LS thing so bear with me. Building a 4.8 for my 2001 Mustang. Going with the Corvette regulator, and a non-PWM fuel pump from a '98. I'm wondering exactly how the '01-'02 truck PCM's handle the canister purge circuit. I've read that it is based on information from a vapor sensor in the tank, which my car has (of course it's the Taurus sensor, which I am quite sure has a different signal than the GM). Is there any way to modify that with HP Tuners to have the solenoid open on a timer? Or has anyone fitted a GM vapor sensor to a Ford tank? I don't want to just vent the tank to open air, or leave it on manifold vacuum all the time.....any thoughts?
