Default PCM Questions

Car is an 01 Camaro Z28/SS 4l65e and have the current 01 PCM but curious as to what other PCMs are better to swap with? Having car tuning issues as PCM seems very slow to react or respond if it responds at all to changes asked.

Thanks

P01 PCM is great for tuning, has Real time tuning available and you can do wonders with it.
Gen4 ECMs are much faster but you can't use them in your car without big modifications. An aftermarket controller is also faster and better however I don't see the need to upgrade unless you are making 1K HP or more and really need the features.
P01 PCM is not slow by any means and is pretty capable of controlling transmission, fuel and spark on a boosted car while keeping everything else working (cluster, A/C, BCM, ABS, etc).

What is your particular issue?

Trying to get the PCM to take commands it's very slow to adjust and or doesn't seem to take at all. Uploading and downloading to and from the PCM act like something is blocking it or really badly slowing it down. Not sure if that makes sense lol. Basically trying to get the IAC and idle adjusted and it's just not taking the commands that are imputed acts like a home PC does with malware on it. So didn't know if switching to a different maybe better PCM would help matters out.

Don't think so but could always be possible, but it just doesn't seem to want to take any commands very responsively or sometimes at all. Can use laptop on other PCM and it seems fine, much better. Go to give a command to the IAC and it takes multiple try's to take and takes very slowly. Maybe something bad or close to shorting out within the PCM? Just didn't know if there could be any reason a PCM would act up, maybe if another shop can put blockers of some sort that's probably a crazy theory lol but hell I have no idea.

I can make any LS engine with P01 PCM stall or rev sending manual commands to the IAC.
What are you using to tune and "send commands" ??

Using HP Tuners Pro for all tuning needs, but just seems very lagging in response. I've changed out the IAC and still nothing but might change out the FAST 102 throttle body and see if or what improvements that makes. Just mainly at a loss as to what or why slow and limited control in commands.

Can you describe what are you doing and how? Maybe you are doing something wrong or not using the correct tools.

I'm just surprised, that PCM is very fast and capable
