Default 24T vs 58T Reluctor

I would like to replace my 24T reluctor with a 58T reluctor. Are there any vehicles that use an 0411 pcm with cable throttle and 58T reluctor out there? I assume anything like this would also need a 4 hump timing gear and 58T crank and cam position sensors.

Yes those are the things you need but I dont believe any 411 PCMs are capable of running that??? Or none that I know of stock. They phased those out the same time they went with the Gen4 stuff.

Thanks, I can tune the 411 with HP Tuners including changing the platform. This capability is the reason for my question...

You cannot change the reluctor input through hptuners. It requires a conditioned signal. only aftermarket efi kits allow that.

You cannot use a 58x wheel and 4x timing set on an 0411 computer unless you condition the signal between the two with a lingenfelter style box.

You can run afm on an early gen4 E40 24x computer not an 0411 though. Maybe vvt also but i would have to check on that.

If you are looking for a cleaner signal as ive seen some complain about then use an aftermaket system or run it off an ati balancer hub. There are a few kits that allow you to do that....although ive seen 24x vehicles blow past 8k without an issue on the waveform or signal from the reluctor. Im just assuming thats why you would want to do that.

Is there some other reason youd want to do that?

I have the crankshaft out of my engine for the third time because the R-wheel has shifted aft until it contacts the rear main cap which kills the signal. I was hoping that it would be possible to switch to 58T because it is much more robust. I'm only running up to 7000 rpm and the 24T handles that just fine. I haven't wanted to weld the 24t to the crank but it looks like I will be doing that with a new 24T wheel.
Thanks for the info, sorry it won't work for me.

I thought that might be the other issue.

We have a better option. we do offer billet 24x wheels. they are a much better option and do not need to be tack welded in place either. their tolerance is within a tighter spec than gm as far as crank flange interference and straighteness.

If you are interested please let me know

For reference the billet wheel is $140 shipped. Maybe a big investment but they wont slip vs buying x many more gm 24x wheels.

I've got a new 24t on order and I'm going to try the spot weld trick. If it fails again I will be buying your wheel. Any idea why this happens, I've never seen it before.

Ive seen it happen quite a bit recently but mainly on newer cranks or cranks with the wheels installed on them. Some aftermarket crank manuf send the cranks with no wheel to allow them to either be 24x or 58x. on those we ALWAYS recommend the billet 24x if they are going that way.

They are a VERY tight interference fit. We use them on our recent 24x ls3 short blocks and high power builds. They are made for us.

It's more common than you think In performance applications.

I saw one most recently on a friends Turbo motor recently. The wheel started to separate where they are pressed together and friction welded.

I recommend you weld those area's as well
