As long as you have a pcm has an operating system that reports the Trans temp data, the ultra gage will be fine. You can also use the elm327 and a cell phone running the Torque application.

Do you know if the 1998 PCM reports Tranny Temps?

They mention on their website:
UltraGauge MX: Built upon the EM plus, the MX provides an advanced ability to access Proprietary Manufacturer parameters, such as Transmission temperature (if supported by the vehicle)

I want to buy the correct unit the first time.....

Thanks....

Looked up the elm327......ok, Bluetooth to my iphone. Thats cool....

Will that definitely show Tranny Temps with my 1998 PCM.....?

It says I need the elm327 wi-fi.....and an "Automatic Car adapter" Pro or 2nd Gen......whats this? Or does my Bluetooth cover that.

So just buy the elm327....download the TORQUE app....and I'm ready to go?

I don't think the 98 operating system reports Trans temps on the obd2 datastream. It does have the sensor but I have not seen the data during my tests. Get the elm327 that is labeled konweii.

If you have hp tuners you can review the supported PID's for Trans temp data.

check out the aeroforce gauge. You can also add a temp sensors for trans temp if your PCM\trans does not already have one.
