Default Max RPM for OEM PCM?

A while back I remember reading somewhere that the OEM PCM is only functional to a certain RPM but I can't find it again. I really enjoy my cruise control but if I were to, oh I dunno, have a go building one of those de-stroked 8k screamers - will I have to say goodbye to my cruise and go full stand alone?

Depends what ECM E38 8192 rpm LS1 PCM 12,800. Anything above 7500 rpm constantly I would go aftermarket ecu if it me.

When you say "LS1 PCM" I'm assuming you mean the ones with the two full-length connectors versus the later models with the smaller connectors? I have the "blue/green" PCM, looks just like the original "red/blue" LS1 PCM but it has a faster processor and different pinouts.

Default Processor Speed

Hi All, I do know this, the requirement for processor speed.

The speed to "decode" the 58x (my 60-2) is 100mz (minimum) with that ability to 22K RPM, faster than the sensor can read.
My ECU-882C tooth count speed is 160mz.
When we have customers run over 14K (SAE Racing), I switch them to my 36-1/2 TW.

The 24xe processor speed requirement is much slower, the LS-1/2 TW.

I would be able to report, with simple math, the MAX RPM of the engine's correct operation speed if some would state the requested processor speed ?

I know that BS-3 runs at 25mz (68332) with reports from John that the 24xe is required when over 7500 RPM of engine operation is required.

A 99-07 red/blue connectors or blue/green pcm. We have ran them to 8200rpm years ago going through the traps woth stock pcm but now we run Holley Dominator EFI setups on efi setups on everything we can. If its something thats going to see high rpm all the time I would look into going aftermarket. Much more control and safety's. If we go above 7500 rpm we switch to external crank trigger and have turned a littler over 12,500 rpm with big blocks with zero ignition issues.

I just did a quick check of a few PCMs from 2001 to 2005, and they were all hard coded for 8krpm max. This has nothing to do with what the processors are capable of, or what custom OS could be used. This is merely the simple answer to what a factory PCM of those years will do in dead stock form. I haven't looked at any newer files recently.
