I'm sure there are great tuners all across the Country but for me Steve Williams FROST TUNE from EFI Performance LLC Richmond, VA is the best hands down from knowledge of which parts yield power all the way from full dyno tunes, or mail order tunes he's the man, I drive 150 miles each way when I go get my Bird tuned.

Not sure of NC, but is it that you need your car on the dyno, or could you be ok with mailing your ECU to Frost Richmond VA?

More for convenience.
Never had a mail order tune before. Not really sure how it works. One that I have looked into has an autocal, BlackBear.

This.

I've fixed several tunes from some of these "best tuner's in the country". As said, anybody can make a car run at WOT 1 way or another (right way or wrong). Being able to cold start and drive a highly modified car is a different story.

No need to even leave your home state if you want the best tuner in the country who happens to work at BES Racing.

Jonathan Atkins at Tick Performance
Stephen Shoaf at SS LSX Performance and Tuning
Kevin Mullins at TKM performance

But James Short at Shortuning is also very good and I would use if I didn't have so many around me in NC

define best tuner in the country? everyone has strengths and weaknesses. The best tuner in the country can also put a file in your car that drives terribly and the be criticized if he lacks time or your car is last one on a Friday.

"best" tuner isn't generally a straight forward "he's hands down the best tuner in the country"

even experienced tuners learn with every calibration

Word. A guy I know paid for a Dyno tune. Yup runs good at WOT but the tuner said because it has a 32 lb clutch and the Cam has 17* over lap it’ll never idle and drive good and it’s strictly a race car at this point wtf. He’s getting HPT so he can send us the tune and logs. So many tuners are lazy

I have a similar experience with someone local. Took it to someone HIGHLY regarded in the race tuning world....drove like crap. When I street tuned it, even the WOT was off
