Spark tuning on Mustang?

Default Spark tuning on Mustang?

I have hp tuners, and have quite a bit of experience tuning on GM cars, and even a few mustangs. Here's the thing, my wife wants a pair of hotrod cams for Valentine's Day. Obviously this will require some spark tuning, but as of yet I have not been able to plot spark on a row axis in the scanner.

So basically it's like playing a game of battleship with KR, if you get any. You know the rpm, but that's about it. You have to just start shooting down the row and making guesses. It's highly annoying.

Is there a way to set up a custom PID to measure load on a mustang? This would be awesome.

If not, what is it everyone else uses for tuning spark on fords?

M67 frag grenade keeps crossing my mind here.

Kind of thinking that this was going to be the overwhelming response to this... starting to really consider that frag grenade. I don't think my wife will feel quite the same about it though lol.

Yes, it's a 3v. I've worked the tune over a few times, and one of the major problems with Ford is they don't give you a way to plot the row axis for spark because they use "load", and not a PID that you can simply select and plot.

So I'm assuming the pcm uses the MBT spark table, rpm, and torque measurements on some complex math model to come up with "load"... just wish I knew the formula for how the Spanish oak (PCM) does that. Then perhaps the a custom PID could be made to plot it rather than just guessing where any knock occurs. Basically for knock I just add 1 degree to whatever I see in the scanner and then go about halfway down the chart and reduce the entire area.
