Default 99-07 LS 24x PCM - DIY Tuner Lock BYPASS

I've had a number of people asking me on this forum, YouTube, Facebook etc asking me if there was a way to remove or bypass a "Tuner Lock" on a pcm. Yes there is but it's not something that can be explained to most people in a couple lines of text so I sat down tonight and record a simple DIY video explaining how you can bypass the tuner lock for both reading and writing the 512K and 1mb pcm's.

If your going to attempt this.....MAKE SURE YOU UNDER STAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Your going to be poking around on the circuit board of a LIVE pcm. You touch the wrong pin to ground and your going to find out what magic smoke looks. This is the one time that you DON'T just skim the video or jump to the end to see how it's done. If you do your going to end up with a paper weight. This is also not something that should be done in a vehicle just for the obvious reason.....your going to have an exposed PCB that's powered up. If you still don't understand why trying this in a vehicles a bad idea then you need to hit the back button on your web browser and go read something else.

Once u read/write the ecm this will do away with the original tuner lock correct?? Meaning Basicly the ecm will be tuner locked but u can still access it and write to it afterwards?

Yes you can read and write the pcm this way it's just not very convenient.

Now depending on the program being used if you do a recovery mode full flash and treat the pcm as though it was in flash limbo in most cases it will actually write a new seed and key back that remove the lock entirely. Using the recovery write method will be hit or miss depending on the flash tool being used and pcm service number but it will work for some returning it to 100% stock security. Worst case nothing changes and you just need to do a crank relearn afterwards.

both the 80 way pcm connectors are grounded so you can jumper off one of those.
