Default 4l60e shift to third gear issue

I installed a new stage 2trans because the car wouldn’t shift to third at WOT. Guess what new trans won’t shift to third at WOT either. Car has a 408 and yank 3600.

What is your rear end ratio? If it's too tall, WOT won't allow an upshift into 4th, and I've heard, sometimes 3rd. Slightly lifting will usually allow an upshift. True for you?

I have 3:42 rear end out of a stick car. And yes when you lift it will shift.

Does the engine go to the rev limiter in 3rd and stay there?

Yes it hits the limiter and just bounces until you lift

Sounds like the trans tune is off. The shift RPM has to be lowered.

Is it revving to 7100 when it "hangs"? If so something is "stuck" in the programming.

So it is basically "ignoring" the set shift point. If it's a new tranny, something in the programming is messed up

Yeah I’m trying to figure out where it could be wrong in the tune, I can attach a file of the tune as well right now for WOT shift MPH it is set to go to 3rd at 90 mph and RPM shift at 6800, but it doesn’t shift and just goes to redline, then I let off and it shifts just fine, I know it’s in the tune just don’t know where I’m the tune.

Yeah, I can't answer that; I'm not "tune savvy".

RPM & MPH have to be met to complete a shift, not just RPM.

Very similar situation here. Have been to the track three times trying to get the 4L60E to shift. Post your tune and lets try to compare.

Ok well a local tuner helped me out. I tried to adjust MPH all over and it didn’t work. He told me to zero out the MPH. It worked. It now shifts to third at WOT.

I'll have to try that. My car doesn't like to make the 1-2 shift even set at 6400 it'll bounce off the limiter at 7250 and not shift until I lift.

Thats great but that doesnt always work , I find setting 1-2 shift at 5 mph and the 2-3 shift at 9 mph and depending on the flash stall, you can usually fine tune it to your desired shift points.

Interesting...so essentially for TPS at whichever percentage for WOT (mine starts at 94%) keep lowering the MPH until it shifts into gear properly?

If you have a moment, and have the tune available, can you post it so I (we) can compare? Thx
