Default Howling thru the airfilter...

dropped an LS3 into my gto. Has BTR stage 2 N/a can, GM CNC LS3 Heads, LS3 intake (slight porting at the entrance) and a Holley sniper 92mm TB. Intake plumbing is 30” of straight pipe with 4x9 cone filter and 4” 90 deg elbow @ TB. MAF deleted.

IAC counts at idle are 180... seems high right?

thoughts on next steps are the following:

#1 - limit the iac counts in hptuners and crack the TB blade more

If that doesn’t work, then #2

#2 drill a hole in TB

Anyone else deal with a noise intake setup?

I’m having a hard time trying to get a 92mm Holley to idle, due to IAC. I don’t notice a howl, at least no more than normal. I’m prolly gonna change to a NW tb.

screw the stop in to open the blade up with the throttle shut. recalibrate that point to be 0%TPS and check the TPS voltage in your scanner making sure its within idle range.

that should help it idle. decent cams that are on aftermarket lobe sep like most of ballpark 108-116 for example require much more air than the factory fitted items with lobe seps of 120+. lift and duration increase also requires more air for idle.

also reasonable RPM targets are important. trying to get your gen3 DBC engine with 233/248 .6xx/.6xx 113 to idle at 700rpm and be stable during dynamic operation is an unrealistic goal.

Problem solved... too much iac.

set tps voltage to .63 and got iac counts down to 35 at idle (along with tweaking base airflow in hptuners). No more howling, nice and quiet.
