generally speaking no, not unless you have an agreement or really good relationship.

if you had software you could just sort it yourself

Well considering he wants another $500 to now tune it in SD I don’t think it’s that good of a relationship

if it was tuned in the dynamic factory GM calibration his "SD" "tune" would be done below 4000rpm at a bare minimum. maybe he didn't bother over 4000rpm and he just calibrated the MAF values alone.

if he did it completely with the MAF and didn't at least get the VE table close"ish" so in the event of MAF failure it wasn't miles out then IMHO that is lazy.

if he tuned it as per factory the VE table below 4000rpm and the vast majority of the "light load" "idle" and "cruise" areas should be done. if he cant use another file from similar vehicle in combination with his experience to fill the rest of the VE table then I would be shocked. he should be able to write the remainder and be pretty close without data logging. then enable SD mode and dial in the VE to be true from the experience based estimated values he used.

agree you should pay for his time but surely he could do that in 2-2.5hrs if his current calibration hasn't been done with shortcuts. 2-3 hours tuning shouldn't be more than $300-$350ish I believe.

that's just my opinion not fact or substantiated

Not real happy but now they are paid and I’m stuck. Got me in late and once there was an issue with the MAF going erratic they said we’ll bring it back once you figure out the MAF and we will do the rest of it. They only did the WOT. 4 pulls and that’s it. I do agree they should charge more but since they only did WOT I was hoping they wouldn’t go nuts on the price. I got there st 2:30 with the car and home with the car by 4:10 that is with replacing the MAF to see if mine was bad. I dunno like I said my first LS so I am green to this. I can go somewhere else but then I’m out $550 bucks

I was going to do that but it intimidated me and I went the dyno way. I should have but the bullet and went that route
