How much the tech 2 and are you sure its real vs a chinese clone? There are no more updates for tech 2 so if it has the last update then its good to go.

the guy is asking 800 for it and it comes with all different cords/plugs whatever and some candi device?? i dont really see myself affording one anytime soon. what is the latest tech2 software and how does one decipher if its a clone from genuine? is there any sort of alternative diagnostic tool thats out there that can do all the stuff gm stuff? i found a video from summit that explains the hp tuners will change parameters for engine management which is what i will need to do to get my swap done.
there has to be aftermarkets competitive to snap-on or mac but what cant they do? sorry for asking retarded questions

To make changes you need tuning software like hp tuners. A tech2 will flash stock oem files that you pay to get. It wont allow you to make changes in the tune.

Hey TPIZ can you tell me, will the vxdiag nano work for my 1999 camaro z28 / ls1? I just asked the seller on amazon and they said NO, yet the amazon listing for the product says it's compatible with GM class 2 network and UART? and I see people on corvette forums using it for their 1999 corvettes... I don't understand why he says it wont work if its the same as a handheld tech 2?

I need the cheapest possible solution to scan and troubleshoot all of the modules on my car, and reflash with stock files (I don't necessarily need to tune anything though this would be a cool option to have) but I don't want to spend over $250 including any licenses and the vxdiag nano pro seems to come with cracked oem software already?... I don't want to have to buy a license everytime I want to scan another car either, as I want to use it to shop for used cars someday.

So far from my research my best options for ALL module diagnostics seem to be the bluedriver(seems to scan ABS, SRS, trans ecm, pcm but no flashing but i don't think it can do 2 way testing?), launch Creader seems to scan the same 5 modules but no flashing and I don't think 2 way testing?, there are some outdated options from drewtech on ebay like the mongoose for cheap but it looks like you have to buy legit copies or find cracked copies of tech2win or gds to use it? Theres a bluetooth dongle one called vpecker XTUNER from autool that uses a bluetooth dongle like the bluedriver but im not sure what modules it can scan (i think the same 5 modules) but this one seems to have 2 way testing to command windows/doors/etc... then theres' the option of a chinese clone tech 2 handheld? Ideally I want something that can work well for my camaro but also work to scan a toyota prius in the future, kind of stuck here as its all alot to take in and im new to it all? Maybe I should just get a clone tech 2 handheld and another cable for toyota tech stream later...

PS. Apologies for hijacking and reviving an older thread...

It will work. And I have even flashed my vcm with it using ac delco sp online software. I have scanned the vcm, airbag, srs and ipc codes with mine. If uses emulated tech2 software but it can also emulate the mdi and mdi2 bit I havent tried that. Hope this helps!
