PCM hack for per gear boost control
1) target boost with feedback
2) boost by gear by rpm ( this doesnt even need a lot of resolution. every 200 rpm would be fine) we dont need TPS since it's GONNA BE 100% lol
3) output to turn on methanol spray
4) output to retard timing on overboost
i really like the idea of using the PCM data to inform the controller. no discrepancy between your map sensor and your controller's pressure sensor closes a big "IF" hole
5) pin gate open at programmable overboost level
I had an epiphany a few nights ago but needed the solenoid to see if it was even possible.....
So.......I've got a 0411 with a stock 2156 OS on my bench running the boost solenoid and I'm controlling the duty cycle over the data bus using a couple of buttons. I wanted to make sure my duty cycle calculations were correct so I threw my tech 2 on the Pcm and I can watch the % going up and down exactly like I was expecting and they matched what I was commanding for a value.
I'm going try and get something setup I can use in a vehicle that's running/driving to make sure this method has no unexpected side affects from manipulating the pcm this way before I go to crazy with this idea..... but I think this just might work.
