Alternative Tach pick-up for shift light???

Hi,

I want to install a shift light but the location of my harness into the PCM is physically very hard to reach for safely soldering a splice. Is there an alternative location to get the same tach signal, like in the engine compartment to have better physical access for splicing a wire?

Mazda Rx7 LS engine, PCM in pass footwell, full roll cage. Hard to reach and I risk damaging the harness wires by manipulating, stripping, and attempting to solder, around the rollcage.

Yes, but likely just as hard to reach, under the dash on drivers side.

Tach works fine but would like to have a shift indicator at eye level.
