Tune for headers n high flow cats

New to mods....my 02 ws6 check engine light is came on.....right now it has slp lid, borla cat back exhaust...my mechanic said vide is for a bad cat. He s as I'd be better off dr oing headers xpipe and high flow cats and a tune....price was about 2000. The tune is about 6.....any thoughts I need to do some thing because my car wont pass nys inspection

if all you want to do is pass emissions, first find a new mechanic. I don't know NY state, but if you have a visual inspection (essentially following California's CARB garbage) along with the ODB-II scan, sniffer test, etc then putting long tubes on is going to be trouble. Long Tubes are illegal in all 50 states. Some states, and some municipalities with in states will ignore Long Tubes, some won't.

You need to pull the codes and find out why the engine light is on. Bad cat, bad o2 sensor, running rich, etc. Don't **** away $2,000 for a ton of grief. If you post the codes, we might be able to point you in the right direction. Advance Auto, Pep Boys, Autozone, all will pull the trouble code for you for free.

Thanks I'll go to the auto parts store and get the codes and post them....I've spoken to some other people and they said dont do headers you will have nothing but headaches

Cat does are usually P042x.

Should've read "cat CODES are..." For OP when he gets the codes read. Catalyst efficiency codes are usually P042x.

The Codes came up PO 137 and U 1096
