adaptive idle
adaptive idle car is a 85 monte carlo ss with a ls3 holley highram,vengence kaotic cam. car sometimes doesn't want to return to adaptive idle ,timming just stays at 18 and car surges bad. also have a idle hang issue to when coming to a stop. not sure how to go about fixing this the right way
Have you tried returning all the idle settings back to stock (of course, I'm assuming you've tweaked them) and then logging it to see what is lacking? At some points in my idle tuning (mis) adventures, I've found that if I return to the stock settings and then start anew on tweaking, I have a much better idle quality. Of course, using the MAF and VE techniques described in the stickies well help attenuate for the differences in fueling requirements from there. I was able to get a lot of the surging behavior out of my friends 2011 SS (416 stroker, huge cam) stick shift car.
I had a similar issue when I first started tuning. But mine would come after I pushed the throttle any at all, wouldn't return to adaptive idle. Turn it off and back on and itd be fine until I gave it throttle again, would do it every time.
I finally figured out the tune was corrupt. I had my stock tune, converted to 3 bar, and then copied over 1 of Matt's base tunes. For some reason it would mess it up, I believe I was just copying stuff from a different os and my os didn't like it. So I went back and just copied over the VE, timing tables, and entered in my injector data and it was fine after that. I left all the idle parameters stock and just tweaked them from there.
