Default Do I need cats for 02's to live?????

Well, just put in two new front 02's (rears deleted with ls1edit) about 1 month ago and my service engine light is back on code 1133 b1s1 insufficient switching code. Cleared it and comes right back. Sure wish I'd known this would be repetitive. I know I'm not the only one, if I have to I'll buy a catted y pipe. Anyone else run into this????

The switching codes applies to both o2 sensors I believe. Adding a cat will have not affect on getting this code.

What I'm wondering is if my 02's are getting fuel contaminated from not having cats. Could it possibly be fixed with a different tune?

I am going to say the tune will not help because I still get the same code after tuning. I have searched, searched, and searched on this, but can never find anything on the solution. There have been posts from over a year back on this same problem and no real answers. I have been fighting this problem ever since I installed my longtubes. Never once had a problem with my Macs.

Could it possibly be the Jethot coating coming off the inside?? I did find Denso 02's that can survive running leaded and other nasty contaminants better than other o2's. My wife would have my *** if I have to buy 02's every month or so. Not to mention that's enough to make me put it back to stock and sell it.

Ok so you have no cats and no rear o2 sensors? If thats is the case then having no cats will not affect the front o2 sensors. Since the switching code is for each bank it must be turned off with ls1-edit or hp tuners. If the code is not disabled then you will repeatly get it even though all the dtc for the back o2 sensors are turned off. So you will loose the ability to detect a switching error on the front o2s. Although a log every once in a while will indicate this. I have not had cats or rear o2 sensors for over a year with no codes.

Yea, no cats and rear o2's deleted. The problem I see is this. The last time this happened, I put new 02's in and the driveability problem (hesistation, dead at low rpms) went away. Then I got it retuned. If I have those insufficient switching codes turned off for both front 02's, will my car start driving like crap if they actually go bad again? I would assume they were bad when I replaced them since it ran fine again. Some are saying it's due to lack of heat. I have a Borla with the next to smallest hole plate in it (quite loud on acceleration), so I wonder if a more restrictive plate really makes any difference in the 02 temperature operation.

In my car personally, I have the codes turned off. Car ran great for awhile, but now it is running like **** again. There HAS to be a real fix for this other then just deleting the code. I feel this is one of the reasons my car is eating o2's.
