Low power LS!!??
Hi all,
I've got a LS1 in a very light weight swap track car. To run the car on index, I figure I need about 220 - 240 WHP. If I want to run up a level, I'll need about 260 - 280 WHP. My thought here is to "detune" the engine to provide the relatively low power I need. Another thought is that this motor will last FOREVER producing this power levels. How do I go about this? It is TBW, so can I just limit the throttle in "software" to provide the needed power levels? Or set a crazy low rev limit. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks as always,
Gord.

I don’t really know that you could detune it to the point of 220. The only thing I can think of would be pull quite a bit of timing out. Leaning it out would help but I’m not a fan of running it at stoich at 5500. You could limit it by rpm. From what I remember the weaker LS1 cars made 280s.

Pull timing. Leave fuel optimized and pull timing until you hit power required. I see it regularly since I start my tunes with low timing as a safety until I get fuel optimized.
