Default Dbw with p01

new swap I want to do for a 94 chevy k1500 RCSB I bought. I have a L96 that I want to use the top end on my stroked 6.0. I also have a P59/ DBW harness with throttle pedal and box . side note: this P59 also has the driver for IAC.. since I have my P01 from my 99 trans am set up to use HPT and I have the throttle body (DBW) and intake from the L96.

I noticed in the P01 there is a table for electronic throttle, Can I use the P01 with the harness that goes to the P59 to control the everything? I realize I'll have to do some repining but what exactly is envolved.. hate to do all the work to find out the P01 will not work with the pedal or something else.

The pcm connector for a p59 won’t plug into a P01 unless you remove the locators.

The main difference in the pinout is the narrow band O2 sensor grounding. There may be others, not sure.

P01 will certainly do DBW, it depends on the operating system installed. Off the top of my head, I think only the C5 Corvette had DBW and P01 pre 2004.

If you want DBW, I’d suggest just using a P59.

Thank you for the reply Ron, in order to use the p59 ecm, would it just need 2 credits for HPT or is there more involved since the ecm isn't for the truck it's going in?

What truck is it going in and what truck did the P59 come from?

And yes on the two HPT credits.

DBW stuff is finicky when the ecu, TAC module, gas pedal and throttle body aren’t a matched set.

it's all going in a 94 chevy half ton that had a v6. The p59,TAC module and gas pedal are from a 03 silverado with 5.3. The throttle body is from a 2012 express van with the L96.

I guess I could just find a DBC TB and use the P01, sounds like that might be the easier and possibly cost efficient way to go

I just went thru Summit's engine database, and it appears DBC died with Gen III engines.

No, there wasn’t.
You can buy an adapter though. The small 78mm TB is good for plenty of power.

Or you can buy a DBC 4 bolt TB. Just beware of the cheap china ones. They can be a bitch to tune.

I thought about using an adapter, just seems a little counterproductive. The quality of the China TB is another concern I have, I can't justify spending the amount of money asked for the well know companies TB. Which brings me back to my original inquiry.
I wasn't aware of not using a matched TB could cause issues,, what issues could surface using mismatch TB,pedal,TAC and ecm? Simply won't communicate problem or glitches that can effect driving and performance?

Actually, the throttle simply won’t work.

Do you have the gas pedal and TAC module for your harness?
Do you know the year and engine etc that the ecu came from?
Your harness stock or aftermarket?

all oem and all , TAC, PEDAL, ECM from the same 2003 silverado. The throttle body is the only thing from a different vehicle. 2012 express van with L96

Cool. If your TB plugs into the harness you have, give it a whirl!
