Default no start question

my bird wiht a 414 has been setting for a while and ive bene trying to get her back up and running the past month and have been running into issues around the fuel system (old gas issues) had some leaky an fittings on the return line and a pump that was stuck. got that fixed and when I crank it it fires and stumbles but wont stay running. Based on heat on my primaries from the long tubes it seems only 2 of 8 are firing number 4 and 7 specifically.. So I just assumed they were stuck just like the pump, but got me to thinking if it were a bad crank or cam sensor would it throw a code after multiple failed attempts at start up?

wanted to chase down simple stuff before I write off the injectors and send them for a cleaning

it sat for 3 years with about 5 gallons in it I cleaned the tank and the pump and sending unit and replaced the sock and filter. I originally built the car in 07 but developed an issue with over fueling on passenger side that took me over a year to figure out, after that point I had a kid and im really just now finding the free time to get her back in shape. anyway I ran into a similar issue since the car is kind of a Frankenstein. Runs on a stand alone harness and i had issues with the crank sensor before that did something similar which was what made me think of it. Ive delt with sticky injectors before. I need to stethoscope without the pump relay in to confirm if they care clicking, but I wasnt sure it would pop a code in a no start scenario if the scensor was bad.

I forgotten piece of possibly important info...... I swapped steering columns because an adapter wouldn't come off. I didn't think it was a big deal since the ecm is stand alone but it just gave me a p1626 theft deterrent fuel enable not sent.

I seem to remember this being an issue the first startup since the car was a 01 v6 auto but is now running a 98 ecm and a ls stroker.

The part I don't understand is everything from pump relay to injector fuses is all part of the stand alone and vats is disabled in my tune (need to confirm this).

It cranks it builds fuel pressure and hits a lick but won't fire. I'm not convinced it's gummed up injectors.

Nor have you proven it's NOT gummed up injectors. Do that first..

it was VATS related, took the appropriate resistor and put it in the harness and started on second attempt. checking for additional leaks and gotta bleed the steering then may go for a victory lap
