Default 5.3 tune?

I recently swapped my 02 camaro z28 for a gen 3 5.3 (5.7 blew up) and was wondering if I need a tune before driving? New to this stuff so anything works.

Not sure what all has been done but yeah most likely it needs a tune.

It will work, I put a stock 4.8 on a stock 5.7 camaro setup and it was fine it will just be a little slower than the old 5.7 was

A 5.3 with a better cam and a good tune might be faster than a 5.7 with a stock tune, all else being equal.

Absolutely, especially if you do some bowl blending and a primo multiangle valve job along with a cam with just a little more than the FIRST LS6 cam (204/211, .525/.525, 116LSA) rather than the later cam (204/218, .555/.551, 117.5LSA) which kills torque in a 5.3.
