Default Terminator X with digital dash

When using Holley digital 7" dash with terminator x, is the 3.5" handheld still needed? Will the digital dash go through the initial setup just like the handheld.

Get the USB cable and download the Holley software, it will be worlds better than trying to use the neutered screen setup options.

I plan on downloading the software, I also have tune files from a friends car, my build is identical to his, so it should give me a good starting point. I just didnt know if the 3.5" handheld was even neccessary to hook up.

The handheld is strictly optional.

Can I run my digital dash, and tune via laptop without unplugging anything?

Yes you can, but you'll need a extension can-bus cable (depending on where you mounted the ECU), and the laptop cable.

CAN connections, Connector On eco bundle > CAN connector port on 2 port cable for 7" dash > from second connector to laptop cable

The laptop software offers so much.. I can't imagine not having it, it was the only way I could really see how my trans was working.

The handheld has one function for me, it seems like its the easiest way to get the terminator back to a near factory setting, you just re-run the wizard on the handheld.
I've had to do it when I was tinkering and borked something in my tune by accident..

Absolutely, I run the 6.86 dash with the USB plugged in but tucked under dash for when I need it.

I do wish they would have put bluetooth or wifi on the Dash, so the laptop could connect without the cable..
Holleys choice of connector leaves something to be desired. (Its tiny and hard to unplug)

i have termx and pro dash. the pro dash can upload and download tunes but can not make any other changes to the ecu and doesnt have any of the wizards either. I keep the 3.5" screen in the glove box for when i need to make any small changes while im on the road. id rather be stabbed in the eye than spend a bunch of time sitting in a car trying to use a laptop.

I bought a small think-pad,, has a touch screen and screen is 12.5" diag.
I use to strictly for tuning.. (I use a mac day to day. ) Run the Terminator code on it,
as well as my Durametric. I also have a mount for it, and it folds to a table layout.
