I've never seen that OSID before. It might be a rarely-used factory OS but it might also be from HPT, EfiLive, or some handheld programmer.
It's also a little weird for the BCC query to fail, but that doesn't affect anything since the app doesn't use the BCC value for anything. I just threw it in there in case someone would have a use for it.
You can probably skip the seed/key step by grounding a pin on the back of the PCM's PCB for a couple seconds, as shown in this video:
Just getting back to this and other things, had surgery on my hand and its still in a cast. I got rid of the obdlink sx and got an obdxpro, still jammed up on the seed key. Thanks for making that video! I opened up the pcm and couldnt find the pin to ground, my board looks different. I took some pics of it, it has an intel chip. Could I write a new stock l67 tune to this without getting the original bin file?
Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue and cant seem to find any other helpful threads
OP's issue was that the operating system was modified so that it can't be unlocked. Whoever tuned it might be able to unlock it, or maybe the original tuning software might be able to put it back to stock, but generic software like PCM Hammer can't get in.
If you're using PCM Hammer, press the "Get Properties" button and post the operating system ID. I'll see if it's something from GM or something aftermarket.
i have a pcm from a 2001 gtp grand prix -local junkyard. was using obdlinksx pcm hammer is what bricked it tried jet dst all kinds of stuff after grounding pin n tryed to write the .bin i pulled from it with pcm hammer and then i flipped the power gave everything a reset n nothing.
the VIN the OP posted is from a buick with a 3.8. i dont think PCM hammer works on those PCM's. That's why the operating system ID looks weird, because it's not one we'd see working on V8's.
