Default Battery died while trying to program

Battery went dead while trying to use a hypertech tuner on my 98 z28.. Now car will not start, just cranks and the tuner says :
the programming was interrupted, scans its memory and does a self check, then tries to restart programming and then I get a Code 6: restart scanner if message repeat call hyper tech ..

Anyone know what options I'm left with? I'm extremely upset with this issue and hypertech isn't even open to call! 😞
please help me, sos!!

What PCM type? P01 or maybe a P59? If yes, there is a printed circuit board pin ground trick you could try. A few You Tube videos describe the trick.

Does the car prime the fuel pump when you turn key to on position? Is it original 98 pcm? My 98 had low voltage during a flash and smoked the pcm. Car would not prime pump and just crank and not start. Upgraded to 99 plus pcm. You have to repin harness but it’s worth it.

Car is not priming, full charge on battery. Original pcm, gas gauge not reading right either, reads full and its not.

That PCM was only used one year in the Camaro, and two years in the Vette. Odd ducks for sure.

So the hyper tech won’t connect at all? If it does, do you have the option to return the tune to the original?

The short the pin trick likely doesn’t apply because the circuit board is no doubt different than the P01 pcm.

I’m sure one of the big tuning shops could rescue it, but you would likely have to send it to them.

Would be curious to see if HPT can read it.

No option to return to original it runs a self check and gives a "code 6" and a phone number to call.
My first child is on the way and wife is out of work, and mine is slow.. This is the last thing I need right now 😞

I'd love for it to be saved, I'd gladly ship it out. I'm going to call around on Monday, have any suggestions? Thanks

I can try to recovery it on my bench harness. Thats the best way to try to recovery them. 98's though are a lot easier to brick and harder to recover. A also have a 98 pcm for sale but unfortunately they are not cheap.

I've had the car 12 years and wanted to remove the top speed limiter and adjust fan settings to cooler from the handheld, I never trusted it to run its tune. I've owned the hypertech 10 of those 12 years and forgot to remove the top speed limit about 6 years ago after setting the fans.. Not very hot rodish, my.front tires wear out before my rears

I would be very surprised if anybody can recover the 98 PCM. I think you are best off looking for another, but it won't be cheap as they are getting scarce.

They are going for $600 plus. The last 2 I sold went for $500 ea and I only have 1 left. Makes me sick how many 98 pcm I threw away over the years.
