Helping a friend with a no start on his 2006 silverado
Maybe some of you guys have input on this, I'm trying to diagnose a no start on my friend's truck. It's a 2006 5.3, 120k. It was intermittently running and running rough until it wouldn't start at all. I replaced the CKP as it was my first guess, just looking at the ohms from it off the engine it didn't match a new one at all. Still no start. Checked voltage to it, 2.8 volts. checked voltage at the pcm (blue/red connectors if I remember correctly), pin 2 on blue, 2.8 volts. I jumped 12v to pin 2 and it runs but still rough, now it has a cmp code p0342. checked voltage at the cmp plug and it has none, checked it at the ecu and it has none, pin 39 on the red connector. I checked every fuse and relay that I could think would be related, in the cab and under the hood, also checked for voltage at them and they all have voltage matching the batt. I told him it's most likely the pcm that needs replaced, he wants to replace the wiring harness too.
Do people agree that replacing the PCM is the right move? it's all I can think that makes sense, just being cautious cause it's his money not mine. Also, i might've thrown sparks when I probed pin 19 on the blue connector
does this have a related fuse?
