Default How many credits?

I am buying the MPVI3. I have a tuner, but I want to buy it so I can began to learn and take some classes on it. Its a 2002 z28 it has a cam only tune now. I have installed a turbo kit, 2.5 bar sensor going no maf SD. Also we are going e85 from regular gas. How many credits do I need? Two?, four?

yeah I understand none of this lol. I wish there was some how to get it to run for like 15 miles and be safe, like just a download i could write to it just to move it down the road. It idles fine but any gas it goes way lean, and I have read and read and its all confusing as hell to me. I would literally pay for a base tune to drive it.

Even if you got a tune from someone, you would have to write it into your PCM and that requires the 2 credits. Once you assign those 2 credits to your PCM, you can write to it as many times as you want.
So even steady state at e.g. 1500 RPM is way lean? How lean?
What all have you changed? You mention a cam, but not clear if you have the turbo and 3bar MAP installed or its coming?

It was a cam only car. I installed a huron kit t4 7875 .96 ar tubro, so no air mass, 2.5 map sensor 80lb injectors, from a 255 pump to dual 340 with a 4lbs hobbs. ls1 t56 car I was thinking of finding the closest tune in the tune cabinet seeing what the afr are and putting the time way down. they have one with my almost exact set up but for a 6.0 I imagine it would be close enough to move it. I have a few credits in the program right now, and this is the only car I will use this with.

it looks to be 31 degrees now i was going to put it like 12 across it. I do not care if it makes 100 hp and gets 2 mpg just to move it. i will keep it out of boost and shift at like 2500rpm

at idle it is 11.8 not perfect but not damaging above 2 grand it went 15.8 I shut the car down instantly when it shot up.

We all started there I guess at some point. Not knowing what we’re looking at. You just need to tune your VE properly and life will be A LOT better. I would write it out, but I don’t have time. Instead, check out my videos from my signature. That should help you a bit. If not, PM me.

Also, should be mentioned, the tune repository is just that, a tune repository. I know they look like something that might work, but fact is every tune is unique and that’s just for stock cars. Add mods to the mix and you’re on another planet. Can they get you close? Maybe, maybe not. Look up how well mail order tunes work out. It’s exactly that. Maybe, maybe not.

If you already have the software, you’re like 90% of the way there. The other 10% is you actually learning how to apply it. Check my sig.

Sounds like you are simply towing the car to a tuner. For future reference, ChopperDoc is giving good advise.
I would add that while the Tune Repository can be useful, I have seen very bad tunes in it. I suspect anyone with with moderate tuning ability would avoid it and prefer to start with a known stock tune.
