Looking for least expensive way to pull VIN from E38 PCM
It's been a while since I've posted but I'm reading threads on here all the time.
I have what I believe is a L92 and E38 PCM that I want to pull the VIN from for my swap. The donor vehicle is in the junk yard somewhere.
I was thinking of a test bench harness and an OBD2 scanner would be the easiest way to pull the VIN from the E38.
Is there less expensive ways? Any recommendations for a >$100 OBD2 scanner that can pull the VIN?
Thanks in advance.

A free program called "Power PCM_Flasher" can pull a copy of the entire operating system using a junk yard OBD2 harness. You should be able to see the pulled OS VIN using Tuner Pro RT after that. The program is BETA code at V 0.0.0.6 and still seems to be a little wonky but there is an entire 225 posts and 23 page discussion about it on the PCMHacking.net site.
This won't be easy but will be free.
