Yes, they can hook up to an OBD 2 port now. And a small correction needs to be made above - editing your tune operating system is done with Tuner Pro RT . . . not PCM Hammer. Universal Patcher does do editing but PCM Hammer mostly just reads and writes with some analysis of checksums.

Is there a video to walk you through how the procedure is done? I don't wanna do something and then have a major problem..

Tuner pro and PC hammer looks like a great option. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable enough that I want to attempt this without any supervision or help if I run into a problem. I do have somebody now not local to me that bought HP tuners last year. He has not taken it out of the box, I don't know which version it is and he has zero experience. All the videos I watch have disclaimers and comments like your one button away from a meltdown. I am not touching anything on the engine side, only transmission shift points and lock up. Is there anything to be concerned about just connecting and disconnecting the unit or should I go another route and find somebody that has more experience?

The disclaimer is there to cover their asses. I've never bricked anything. Even if you do, you just have to connect 2 points on the PCB for recovery mode.
You most likely don't have to disconnect anything. Worst case scenario you have to pull the BCM fuse

I tried to find an HP tuners for dummies video. Everything focuses on tuning aspect. I would just like to see the procedure for connecting and disconnecting. I know you don't want to use any accessories when it is plugged in.

My two possibilities of people with HP tuners don't seem to be panning out.

Is my tuner able to pull my files and send me or screenshot the transmission shift tables without having the PCM? I would like to make my own changes on the paperwork and then send him back the PCM with my changes. I really hate the idea of wrestling that thing out again but it's probably my easiest option. Thank you for all the help.

Just get PCM Hammer and a supported OBD2 interface. There's a good chance you'll be able to read the PCM, make whatever changes you want, and write those changes back to the PCM.

I've flashed my C5 a couple dozen times since the new motor went in a couple weeks ago, it's pretty reliable.

Some people find it more reliable when you pull the fuse for the BCM or other modules, but I don't that's necessary with most cars. The app sends commands to all of the other modules to tell them not to interrupt, and most modules obey those commands. The first thing you'll do is a "full read" to create a .bin file - there's zero risk in that, and if it goes smoothly then you have nothing to worry about.

When you click the 'read parameters' button it will tell you the ID of the operating system on you PCM. Share that here and I'll help you with the next steps.

I had my tuner email me the. spreadsheet of the shift points. Below will be the changes. to make it shift the way I want. I did it manually in the car and it felt so much better. Question, Are we supposed to feel the car bumping into first gear at 3 miles an hour? Could I lower it to one mile an hour not to feel it? If I pull out the PCM again, it's only going to cost me the ride so I may try that first. Really appreciate all the help here.

I wanted to update this thread just in case somebody has a similar problem in the future. It was the easiest for me to yank the brain out and send it to my tuner. This is not the guy that tuned the car a long time ago, he just adjusted the shift points the way I asked. What are drastic difference, Now it down shifts to the right gear when needed. Also, it got rid of the banging when I'm about to come to a stop, because it was down shifting at 3 MPH to 1st.
