Default terminator x v2 boost control not targeting right

I am helping a friend with a terminator x. its set up as dual mac valve, 4 bar map sensor, signal wire is looped back into another input and configured as the same sensor used as dome pressure
i have a log that shows target boost as 12 psi, boost psig is 2.6, domeMap is 122kpa, but Boost Fill Sol DC never goes above 0%. i cant change units on the domeMap to psig so its kpa and all sensors are reading right.
i cant see why it wouldnt be commanding the fill solenoid.
we are still on v2 software and not looking to change to v3 yet.
is there any condition that a target boost being lower than actual boost wouldnt command fill solenoid duty? the vent solenoid activated briefly so the GUI config seems to be 'right' and it seems to be logging correctly.
i just cant find any reason it didnt command the fill solenoid.
its the same tune we had a 4 port working fine but decided to convert to co2 and dual solenoids after the last race.
thanks all, happy to post whatever screenshots are needed

Which control method are you using? Like boost vs time requires tbrake/launch trigger.

we have it on boost vs time and time is starting at engine start. the logged target boost is 12psi like it should be but its not using the fill solenoid

to add: none of the pid terms are zero

this shows target is 12psi but manifold and dome are 120kpa/2.4 psig but its running the vent solenoid at 9%

As far as I know - which is very little, as the manual states boost vs time requires a launch/tbrake input trigger to start the ramp timer.
Boost vs time is specifically for drag racing IMO

this is a drag race car, and the timer runs, the ecu is reporting a target boost of 12 psi but it doesnt seem interested in trying to meet that target.
but to your point, i am going to try changing it to boost vs rpm tomorrow just in case theres some weirdness going on.
i appreciate the input.

From what I can see you don't have your solenoid source pressure set correctly. It's still set to compressor and it should be set to fixed with the correct pressure set so it matches your regulated CO2 pressure. Other than that get off of V2 and switch to V3 ASAP as there are lots of little fixes here and there.

**edit** wait did I see in your original post that dome pressure isn't actually dome pressure?

the co2 hasnt been installed yet, it is running off compressor right now.

the confusing thing that i hope is just some overlooked setting is the software is reporting a boost target that is far above the actual boost but its venting instead of filling. i havent tried to troubleshoot any hardware since it appears to be entirely software not 'doing what we want'

Ill see about getting the car updated to v3, thats very good info thank you.

I've never tried to use dome pressure control before without CO2 nor without an actual dome pressure sensor. I would first set it up as it's intended and then troubleshoot.

the map sensor is looped back into another input and assigned as dome pressure.
it reads the same as the map sensor in software.

the ecu isnt commanding the fill solenoid even though 'target' is way above 'dome'. as far as the ecu knows the hardware is right but something in software seems wrong. we need to get that part working before verifying the hardware config works.

I guess what I'm saying is that when you have CO2 on the car it's MUCH easier to troubleshoot and see what is happening since you can set it up to hit commanded dome pressure targets without requiring the vehicle to even be running. Makes it very easy to dial in the PID as well to minimize spikes, surges, etc. Do yourself a favor and just put the CO2 on the car with a separate real dome pressure sensor and go from there.

agree on all. i want to do the same on my car too but it isnt holding me back yet. it does get old having to do dyno runs over and over to get the pid terms dialed in though. me and pid loops have a long history of bringing mostly nothing but pain and suffering.

so if we pretend the car has co2 and its all hooked up right... can you think of any reason the ecu sees 2.6psi at the dome, reports a target of 12psi but is commanding the vent solenoid at 9% instead of the fill solenoid?

No, but I've never tried to run it the way you have it configured.

thanks.
i ran it like this a few years back on my wagon and it worked fine. the wagon is still configured this way from a hardware perspective but has a nexus instead. functions well.
hopefully the move to v3 resolves this.

so it turns out when you use a single solenoid you can use an absolute map sensor without issue but when you switch to dual solenoid with 'dome' control it cant use an absolute sensor, it treats it as gauge no matter what.
at 2.5psi of boost (112kpa sensor output) it was treating it like 17.5psi. subtracting 100 from the sensor config fixed it.
what made it more fun to figure out was there doesnt seem to be a 'boost error' channel which would have immediately showed the problem. thanks holley.
also i checked the boost control manual and they say "You can use just about anypressure sensor that can be configured in the IO function as long as it has the appropriate range."
if they specify the range somewhere, i couldnt find it. thanks again holley.

Holley is very specific in how they have stuff setup and it's pretty much hard coded and not adjustable, and using dual solenoids with dome control is meant to be used with a separate map sensor for the wastegate. I know what you mean about error channels though, Haltech definitely does it right and that would have shown immediately what the problem was.

I get that we were cheating it but the actual problem was when Holley says ‘any pressure sensor will work’ they mean ‘any pressure sensor that isn’t absolute’

I have never seen boost control work very well how you have setup. It works perfect with CO2, 2 MAC Valves and dome sensor.
