Default How do credits work on HP Tuners

I’m confused about how credits work on HP Tuners. I just purchased the MPV13 which from my understanding will allow me to connect my laptop to my OBD2 and download the current tune. I believe my car has the wrong tune and wont start so I want to load a base tune that I saw HP Tuners had and see if that starts. Then I will probably make modifications to that tune over time to change some base lines here and there. How do I know how many credits this will be or if I even need credits at all?

Is it every time I make one little change and load that tune I have to pay for it with a credit? Then drive the car, make another change and then pay with another credit? If so, that can get expensive real fast

You buy the amount of credits needed to unlock the vehicle's PCM to your HP Tuners Module, once you get the credits and unlock it to that module, it's permanently unlocked to it and can tune it as many times as you need.

How do I know how many credits it will be to unlock it? Im trying to figure out if it is cost effective to invest in the HP Tuners or take it to a shop to get tuned.

All of these questions are answered on HPtuner's website. I'm guessing you must have bought the cable from a 3rd party or you would have already seen this.

That or not doing any research, their website has a list of what vehicles are currently supported and how much credits each one costs.

actually, I appreciate that you brought that up because after I read your post about where I order it from I immediately went back and canceled the one from Amazon and ordered from Summit because I wasn’t sure if the one I was getting from Amazon would be a legitimate one I know Summit carries real products

Buying it directly from HPTuners is also an option....
