Default Terminator X 24x / 58x Question

Trying to help a buddy out but don't have an answer so figured I would ask here as we don't have the patience to sit on hold with Holley tech support.

Machine shop mistakenly replaced a 24x crank with a 58x. He would like to fire up the engine at least. If the cam sensor is disabled and the Ignition Type changed to 58 tooth, would that work?

TIA

You can rewire the harness for 58x. Just switch power from 12v for 24x to 5v for 58x. Ground can stay the same and can tap for power on the harness or repin at the ecu

Default ZZZ's Asleep

Hi, You MUST use the 60-2 sensor for reading and they are wired differently.
The 58x is TEN TIMES more accurate when the engine is accelerated!

. Can you elaborate further on the actual meaning the phrase: "TEN TIMES more accurate" ?

Does this imply that my P59/ 24X reluctor has "TEN TIMES" more random spark scatter than a 58X reluctor ?

Default Missing tooth detection

The 24xe (25 teeth) does NOT HAVE a "missing tooth" section.
Thus the ECU ONLY "sees" twenty-five signals per rev.
MY 60-2 (GM58x) does have a "missing tooth" section.
The method to "find" the missing two teeth is to measure the time between teeth.
That measurement is made twelve times between each tooth.
When the TWO tooth section is measured, that time is longer.
The crankshaft position is found.
The next need is Timing Lag measurement.
This is accomplished by measuring the CHANGE in time between teeth in an acceleration.
NOW we have the foundation for a 1/4* Spark Instant AND accurate Coil DWELL Control (saves coils)
Today, after 2006, ALL IC car engines built on THIS planet require this method.
