Terminator X - How to configure 2-Step using voltage input
I want to configure a 2-step using my clutch pedal input. I have a Low Doller 2" shock travel sensor attached to my clutch, pedal at rest is 0V, fully depressed is 5V. I want to engage the 2 step at, say, 33%-100% pedal travel. (The point is to be able to adjust when the 2-step turns off based on the clutch engagement point). I can't see where in the software I'd be able to use this input to turn on Rev Limiter #1. Do I have to configure my own rev limiter to make this work? Is there another way to do this that I'm not seeing?
I don't believe it's possible with terminator bit is with dominator... I was trying to setup a rev limiter offset as a rolling anti lag and found that it could be done with dominator but not terminator... kinda sucks but if you want all the cool stuff gotta pay the big bucks...been considering getting the dominator for that reason
I actually think I figured it out, I just need confirmation from someone that it's possible. I made a ground input for Rev Limiter #1, set my pedal sensor up, then made an ground output based off of pedal position and MPH. All I would need to do is wire the ground output from my CAN I/O box to the ground input on my Terminator that is configured for Rev Limiter #1. All it's looking for is a ground, and my ground output is basically acting like a button/switch being pressed. I've just never heard of an output being wired back to an input, so I'd need to find out if that is possible.
Someone on Sloppy Mechanics suggested making an advanced table with -5 dwell time above the RPM I want to launch at, with my clutch input as the other axis, so I may try that. I just rewired a bunch of stuff and added some sensors, so I have to reconfigure all of my I/Os and pin map anyway. May as well see if this works while I'm in there.
Use an output under the I/O tab with the parameters for activation inside the output.
Then make an 5V input for your sensor
Make a 2D advanced table with the dwell or timing dump for the limiter function. I have found dwell works pretty well, used it for a few limiters before.
Use the above activation output as the switched enable for the advanced table, and use the 5V clutch sensor input as the Y axis and RPM as the X axis.
@wlink14 Should doing this also work to build boost on the line? Remember, I'm a stick shift, so I can't load the engine to spool the turbo. I also converted to a CO2 set up, so my boost control should be much better now.
Any of the ways listed here would work just fine. The dwell offset version essentially just shuts off the ignition coils and that would also work to build boost with lots of fireballs but so does the other way of enabling the rev limiter and an input/output.

Give it more rpm. Occasionally when I am playing around/showing off in the garage I’ll lower my rev limiter a bit to 6000 or so and sit on the limiter. It will take a couple seconds to build boost even at 6k rpm
Someone suggested it on the Sloppy Mechanics FB group. And it does work, but it's basically cutting the spark completely off, which isn't going to do much for getting heat into the exhaust. When I tried it, it held the RPM just fine, but I had zero pops and bangs out of the exhaust.
I feel like dwell would be more useful for creating a limiter than manipulating how one behaves...interesting
That ignition table is similar to how I have mine set up and it pops and bangs VIOLENTLY!... but will build boost in my manual car... never held it very long to see what it builds upto at a standstill cause of how aggressive the bangs are. I always feel like it's gonna blow apart haha
So, I figured out that I can't do a 1D table, because it doesn't take speed into account and and is on all the time. So I built a 2D table instead, but it doesn't work. Even with 60 degrees taken out, it still revs up past 3750. Doesn't sound happy, but it doesn't sound like any 2-Step I've ever heard and doesn't build boost. I will say, the part of the timing map it hits when I'm free revving it is at 38 degrees, so it's only going to -22 degrees. Do I need to take even more timing out?
