Cheap oscilloscope for sensor testing?
I see lots of sub $100 digital pocket oscopes for sale and was curious if these will cut it.
Backstory-
I’m trying to figure out if I’m getting a crappy signal from my cam/crank sensors. Doesn’t like to start first time, almost always have to turn the key off then back on and it fires right up. Also has a strange hiccup if I try to rev the engine under no load(in neutral), but never acts funny when I’m driving the car. I’ve tried multiple sensors with no change but I think I’m just getting a dirty signal possibly due to interference, so I want to check the waveform coming off the sensors.

Wouldn't hurt to try one...for science... you could compare it to a known good vehicle to confirm accuracy.
Or any repair shops near you with decent technicians should have one...i have 2 scopes in my box... you could pay them probably less than 100$ to scope it for you

I have no experience with this unit, but it's kinda tempting: https://www.fnirsi.com/products/ds21...46245070799066
Has two inputs, so you could overlay the crank and cam signals and see if they line up.

I just got this one last week and so far I've been happy with it. It's a little bit pricier than the ones posted above though. It's 2 channel and also has a signal generator, spectrum analyzer, and frequency response analyzer. I don't care about the spectrum analyzer or frequency response analyzer as I will never use them, but I did play around with the signal generator a bit to manipulate an instrument cluster on the bench. The fan noise is a little excessive but most of the time I'm in a noisy environment when I'm using it so it's not a big deal to me.
