Question Pcm Question?

I am talking to my gf about her 99 v6 camaro and she says why dont you just put a ls1 in my car instead of me buying another car, so i get to thinking and shes getting a brand new paint job and has 11k in the bank for a new car that she could spend on her car. Well i started getting together exactly everything she is going to need for a swap but her odomoter says 47k miles but i was wondering can you buy or some how make it go back to 0 when you get the motor in so it will match the engine tranny and rearend.

Ive heard of a flash and what does that attually do?

thanx josh brown

I believe that would still be against the law, as they don't care how many miles you have on your engine, it's the mileage of the car itself. But if you figure it out let me know. Or you could just buy a new gauge cluster and install it when you put the new motor in.

I thought about that but i dont think that would work because i was looking behind my gauge cluster and found the wires that member the milage on you odomoter so i unpluged it and went for a drive but when i got back i pluged it back in and it was correct with what i put on so i think the computer stores it in there somewere and just places it on the gauge.

I think you'd be money ahead to sell the V6 before
paint job, buy an LS1 later year ('01-'02) and not
have to do the work.

On '99+ trucks, the cluster iteslf stores the mileage but I don't know if the F-body does it the same. Some guys put Escalade clusters in their Silverados and have to have the dealer adjust the mileage to make it correct (and still be legal).
Dunno if that helps but it's some info to start from.
