Default SES Question

Ok yesterday the SES light came on so I hook up the OBDII code reader and it throws PO430 which comes back as: Catalyst system Efficiency below threshold (Bank 2) I believe the bank two is passenger side I'm assuming its no big deal the exhaust is a complete SLP system LT,Y and LM with approx. 4000 miles on it I'm assuming there is a sensor bad, can someone give me the part name and number if applicable. Thanks and apologize if this is in the wrong place.

Hi,

Does the SLP Y on your car include catalytic converters? If not, do you have the O2 simulators in the rear O2 positions?

Default That's odd!

Well,

One of three things is going on here...

1. the bank 2 sensor got a fluke reading -- been known to happen
2. the bank 2 sensor is on it's way out -- not real likely
3. the bank 2 cat is on it's way out -- most likely but also most $$.

If it were my car I would see if it continues, if so take it to a dealer and see what they find.

Sorry for the (maybe) bad news. I hope it's not the cat!!

The car don't get driven that much, but that little light drives me crazy, thanks for responding to my problem, here’s the deal the cats are SLP high Flows, with only 4,000 miles on them also, If it were you, what would be the first place to check the car itself has 30K miles on it, I still have the factory "high flow" cats, but would like to think that some of that engineering done over at SLP was for some good I hate to take it to the dealership if I can avoid that its a big hassel for me, but I guess I have no choice if I can't figure this thing out

The SLP headers are locating the aftermarket cats in a location other than stock. The rear O2s are not going to report the same as if they were in their stock location with stock cats. Because of this, a trip to the dealer is going to be a waste of time. Find someone with Edit or HPTuners and turn off the rear O2 codes, or install O2 sims, or live with the SES light.

Thanks for the help it makes sense now when I think about it, I just wonder why its taken 4,000 miles for the car to figure out that the cats were moved, I need a tune soon anyways, so when I get the cam installed, I'll get it fixed up, thanks for helping me figure this out.
