damn this is frustrating.
ok, i got the PMCIA. i set it up and everything. it still wont work.
I kept changing the COM ports.
I port 3 it kept saying, wait while it reconnects.
on port 6, which should be the right port, it would give me errors and say make sure cables are connected and restart program, tried it about 5 times and it wouldnt work.
anybody have any ideas.
thansk

Try hooking everything up and then rebooting the laptop. Then open Edit. You might have to repeat until you find the correct port.
I recall I can't hot swap cables (attach and reattach) like I can USB cables (mice, keyboards, external harddrive, etc.) with my Toshiba.

now im thinking its not the edit, because the A-tap wont work with the Pcmcia.
during installing the driver it gives me a note "the software you are installing has not passed windows logo testing to verfy compability with XP"
so i think i have to try and figure out that first. Its a Startech brand
thanks

well, i finally got it to connect by trying the usb to serial port connector.
still cant get it to connect with the Pcmcia to serial port. i think i should try a differant brand..
with the usb to serial port, it connected and i was trying to read the pcm, but it lost connection at 13%, so im kinda scared to try to upload a new file with the usb

yes,
first i went to there website and downloaded them, didnt work, so then we emailed each other back and forth 10 times, then 20 mins on the phone and got nowhere. so i guess im going to try that other brand that somebody else suggested.
usb to serial is working, i just read the pcm, took about an hour, but it didnt lose connection or anything. so hopefully it wont give me problems uploading
thanks!!

Most of the USB-to-Serial devices are loose-standard devices (a paradox?). They just don't fully conform to spec. Most of the industrial controllers that I work with have a 232 port that is typically used to setup it's ethernet connection. None of the usb-to-serial devices that I have tried have worked properly...
