Default PCM won't hold memory?

I have two problems that have me baffled. First everytime I start the car all the gauges go to there max, then back to zero, then after about 5 seconds go to there natural settings. The trip OD always resets to 0.0 Any idea what is causing this? I have MTI programming.

Problem two. The Amperage gauge is surging constantly in the positive position, Actually looks like a windshield wiper going. All my internal lights flicker with the surge also. Any clues?

Sounds like a bad alternator, or a loose ground wire, or a loose wire at the back of the alternator.

I changed the alternator and battery within the last 6 mo. I can double check grounds. Think it could cause the PCM to reset everytime I start??
